Bridging the Gap: From Discovery to a Life of Care.

LabToLife is where scientific research meets human compassion. The purpose is to translate complex discoveries into clear, accessible knowledge to help people of all walks of life.

About Me

My name is Harvin Kushan

Hello, I'm Harvin, and I believe that science is a tool for healing and human connection. My journey began in the lab, where I contributed to neurobiology research investigating developmental brain mechanisms. I've conducted advanced procedures like PCR and In Situ Hybridization and even developed Python scripts to streamline research workflows, reducing data processing time by 40%.

But my work extends beyond the lab. I've also spent over 120 hours as a patient companion for hospice patients, providing emotional support and companionship during end-of-life care. My experiences also include shadowing primary care and nephrology physicians, where I observed patient consultations and learned about chronic disease management and comprehensive care strategies.

Through these experiences, I've developed a unique, full-circle approach that links scientific understanding with empathy and innovation.

Bridging the Gap between Discovery, Patient Care and Health Education

My mission is to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and patient care, ensuring that research findings directly help people from all walks of life. And that complex medical concepts become widely understandable and actionable.

My Research

I've extensive scientific lab research work

Sleep Research

Effects of the APoE Gene on Alzheimer's Disease Risk

Authored a comprehensive research paper analyzing apolipoprotein E gene variants and their correlation with Alzheimer's disease susceptibility. My work involved collaborating with university researchers to conduct literature reviews and statistical data analysis. The research was published in the Journal of Student Research.

Hand Wash

Effects of Bacteria on Different Hand Soaps

Designed experimental protocols to test the antimicrobial efficacy of multiple soap formulations. I then conducted a comprehensive statistical analysis of bacterial growth patterns. This project achieved a Top 50 ranking at the Regional Science Fair and qualified for the State competition

Toy Brain

Neurobiology Research with the Dorsky and Douglass Labs

As a Research Aid, I contributed to neurobiology research investigating developmental brain mechanisms with therapeutic applications. I've conducted advanced laboratory procedures, including In Situ Hybridization. I also developed Python scripts to automate data analysis, which streamlined the research workflow.
